In the 1980s I became aware of the fact that a number of people were putting out statements regarding the Reagan Arms buildup, or nuclear weapons in general, that were False.
I tried to inform journalists of the errors they were repeating, if not promoting, but what I learned was the media hides behind this term "approved sources." Some time in the early 1980s the media became locked into taking information only from certain groups and organizations with no attempt to even cross check the information. The result, in 2005 an analyst for the Federation of American Science declared the Hydrogen Bomb was impossible because the small atomic bomb inside the H-Bomb couldn't exist. For two years the major Anti-nuclear groups held to the story until they quietly dropped the story. But the media never got the memo and to this day people hold the small nuke is impossible and the H-bomb by default. And the myths keep growing as new false stories are promoted. Thus the purpose of this page will be to deal with the myths that people continue to weave regarding the US Nuclear arsenal and nuclear weapons in general. |
